About US Bank Credit Cards

Opened back in 1863, US Bank has its head office in Minneapolis and is one of the largest banks in the USA.

More importantly, it is a financial institution that offers more than just a few credit cards scores for everyday spending, traveling, and people who want to take advantage of cashback programs.

One of the coolest points is that although US Bank has most of its offices in the West or Mid-USA, anyone can apply online.

Thus, I had no issues researching and trying out a couple of credit cards even though I am a resident of the East Coast.

What Does US Bank Offer?

Before I get into the details, I want to briefly discuss everything that US bank offers.

Their most popular credit card is US Bank Cash Visa Signature Card which is best for cash back.

Along with it comes US Bank Cash Visa Advanced Go Card (dining), Connect Visa Signature (general travel), Visa Reserve, Flex Perks, and a few others.

US Bank Attitude Go Signature Card

The first credit card I was interested in was the Go Signature because it offers 4x points for money spent on food delivery, dining, and takeaway.

As someone who enjoys dining out, it seemed like the ideal credit card. There is also a welcome bonus in the amount of 20,000 points that translates to $200.

The main requirement? That I spent $1,000 within 3 months since I opened the account.

It is great to know that US Bank allows a 12-month introductory period where I wouldn’t pay an APR on balance transfers or purchases. In addition, the Go Signature card doesn’t charge an annual fee.

So, after getting approved, I was eligible for a $15 credit that I could use on streaming services such as Netflix and HBO Go.

The application process is pretty simple and comes down to a few requirements.

First, I needed proof that I am over 18 years old, a US citizen/permanent resident, and that my credit score is above 680. The information can be provided via a telephone line or through an online inquiry.

US Bank Altitude Connect Visa Signature Card

The highlighting point of this credit card has to be the ability to redeem $500 in discounts, gift cards, and cash back as long as I spend $3000 in the first 120 days.

Along with that, the bank doesn’t charge an annual fee for the initial year, and after that, it is set at $95. In my opinion, it is a fine credit card for all people who travel a lot.

There are even more benefits you can take advantage of. Firstly, the card offers its users 5x points on all hotel and car rentals and 4x points on money spent at gas stations.

Along with that, there is a $100 TSA credit reimbursement for every year. I was also impressed with the contactless payments and the mobile wallet that Altitude Connect offers.

In addition to all of the above, there is a $600 cell phone protection.

The process and the requirements are pretty similar to the aforementioned card, and I could do it through the official website or telephone line.

Keep in mind that while the approval may come within minutes, the main requirement was that I have a credit score above 720.

US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card

Apart from the $200 bonus after spending $1000 in the first 120 days of opening the account, the bank also offers a 5% cash back on two categories of my choice.

I was eligible for a 2% cash back for grocery and gas station purchases, while the Bank Cash+ ensures a 1% money back on all other purchases.

Most importantly, there is no annual fee, and I can enjoy an introductory period for 18 months of not paying an APR.

After the period is done, the card users are charged anywhere between 13.99% and 23.99% depending on their creditworthiness and the current market prime rate.

Applying for Bank Cash+

Following pretty much the same process as the Altitude Connect, getting approved for the Bank Cash+ meant that I needed a credit score above 720 points.

In addition to that, a proof of income above $4000 on a monthly basis and that I am a citizen/permanent resident of USA and over 18 years old.

US Bank Visa Platinum Card

The highlighting point of this visa card has to be the 20-billing cycle introductory period.

During that time, I wouldn’t need to pay an APR on balance transfers and purchases that are usually set between 14.99% and 24.99%.

In addition to that, there isn’t an annual fee that the bank charges the card owners. Another major benefit is that it allows contactless payments and supports mobile/digital wallets.

Also, I can set direct (auto) payments towards my lenders and due dates that suit my financial preferences. Lastly, the bank offers cellphone and fraud protection for anyone who owns this credit card.

Applying for Visa Platinum

Firstly, anyone who wants to get approved should have a FICO score that is above 670.

While I didn’t need as much good credit as with the last few cards, the bank also requires 1 year of clean credit history.

US Bank Attitude Reserve Visa Infinite Card

One of the coolest points of this travel-friendly card is the welcome bonus that comes in the form of 50,000 points that translate to $750 in hotel/car rental/airline discounts.

The main requirement? To spend $4500 within 3 months of getting started with the Visa Infinite Card.

Talking about other rewards, it offers 5x points for all prepaid accommodation bookings and car rentals and 3x points on all other travel purchases.

In addition to that, the Visa Infinite doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee, offers WorldClass service and the ability to redeem a Global Entry $100 reimbursement.

The annual percentage rate is set at 16.99% to 23.99% for balance transfers/purchases and 25.99% for cash advances.

The first requirement when applying for this credit card was a FICO score of above 720.

Along with that, I needed to provide proof of income, clean credit history, and US citizenship/residency. Keep in mind that anyone who meets all of the criteria should be approved within minutes.

US Bank Flex Perks Gold American Express Card

Similar to the aforementioned card, this one offers a welcome bonus that I would be eligible for after spending $2000 in the first 120 days.

The bonus translates to 30,000 points or $450 in accommodation, airfare, and car rentals.

Another cool point is that there is no foreign transaction fee making it friendlier for all people on the go.

Remember that the 5x points cash back is for restaurant and car rental purchases, while 3x points are for purchases made at restaurants.

Applying for Flex Perks

As for other advantages, it does support the TSA reimbursement and complimentary Boingo WiFi for connecting to more than 1 million hotspots.

Among the few requirements for qualifying for the Flex Perks Gold Card is to be above the age of 18, a US permanent resident/citizen, and a FICO score over 700.

US Bank Secured Visa Card

Last but certainly not least is a credit card that I find suitable for anyone who wants to improve their credit history.

It is perfect if I would want to build my credit score through everyday purchases and automatic payments.

One of the coolest points is that it offers fraud protection and zero fraud ability.

In addition to that, it also supports contactless payments and the ability to access my account through a mobile app 24/7.

Applying for Visa Secured

The main requirement is to have at least $300 in a US Bank savings account.

Other than that, I found that I needed to have a credit score below 600.

And the only other two requirements that you need to meet are to be older than 18 years and a US permanent resident/citizen.

This means that they partner with a wide variety of businesses and retailers to offer branded credit cards for promotions and discount purchases.

In my opinion, these are perfect for people who spent a good amount of their money with SkyPass airlines, at Bakers, Corbes, and a few other stores.

The best thing is that most of these credit cards don’t require high FICO scores.

What’s Included?

Apart from the SkyPass, Corbes and Bakers branded cards, I came across a US Bank partnering with Heeter’s, Frys, Fred Meyer, PicknSaveMetro, Kroger, Mariano, and QFC!

US Bank Contact Details

US Bank wouldn’t be as successful as it is if it didn’t offer a wide variety of contact forms.

The first one is the 24/7, 365 days a week telephone line. The number is 800-8722-657, and I didn’t have any issues reaching them a few times in a row.

In addition to that, there is an extensive FAQs page that covers most of the issues related to account opening and getting the most out of the chosen credit card.

Not to forget, the ability to make an appointment or simply visit the nearest branch

US Bank Head Office

Among the 2959 physical locations that US Bank offers, its most important one is the head office at 800 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Summary

Judging by my experience, US Bank is one of the best financial institutions to apply for a credit card. The fact that they offer more than 7 different credit cards, addressing the needs of everyday spenders, travelers, and people with low credit scores, is why it is so successful.

Note: There are risks involved when applying for and using credit. Consult the bank’s terms and conditions page for more information.
