If you’re a long-time Canadian Tire customer like me, chances are you’ve been collecting paper Canadian Tire Money, which is worth $1 when redeemed for purchases at the retailer.
This rewards program has now been modernized and been revamped to become the Canadian Tire Triangle Rewards program, the digital version of Canadian Tire Money.
Under Triangle Rewards, Canadian Tire customers are able to collect Canadian Tire Money with the Triangle Rewards card, the keychain mini-card, or on the Canadian Tire mobile app.
Earning and Redeeming Triangle Rewards
Triangle Rewards are earned by making purchases at most Canadian Tire stores, including Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Atmosphere, Sports Rousseau, Hockey Experts, Gas+, and participating Husky, Mark’s, and Sports Experts stores.
The rate of rewards earned depends on whether gas or merchandise is bought. Buying merchandise earns you 0.4% back in Canadian Tire Money and 3 cents in Canadian Tire Money per litre at Gas+.
You can redeem your Canadian Tire Money for purchases at Canadian Tire and Sport Chek stores, as well as some participating Mark’s and Atmosphere stores.

The credit card also gives you the chance to earn 1.5% Canadian Tire Money back when used for buying groceries for the first $12,000 you spend per year, except in Costco and Walmart.
It also gives you 5 cents per litre of gas from Gas+ and Husky gas stations. What makes this credit card more appealing is that it doesn’t have any annual fees and has no specific income requirement.
Aside from having no annual fee, I discovered that the Triangle Mastercard also gives you no interest financing on eligible purchases of $150 or higher, allowing you to make 24 equal monthly payments for larger purchases.
Additional Perks of the Canadian Tire Triangle Mastercard
Users of the Triangle Mastercard need not worry about losing a receipt for certain item returns because some participating stores allow no-receipt returns for users of this credit card.
Triangle Mastercard users are also the first to receive information about exclusive events and discounts and also get personalized offers as a Triangle Rewards member.

It also has a cash advance interest rate of 22.99%, and the same rate is used for the balance of transfer interest rate.
Credit Card Fees
While the card doesn’t have an annual fee, extra card fee, or late payment fee, there are several other fees that you need to take note of.
If you use the card to buy from a seller abroad or use it to purchase a product or service while traveling overseas, it will be subject to a 2.5% foreign exchange fee.
Aside from the interest rates on cash advances and balance transfers, they will also be subject to fees of $4 per transaction.
